Heart Healthy Grain Bowl

     Ingredients

 

  • 150 g naked oats

  • 1 tbsp HowToAgeGracefully Breakfast Mix

  • 1 tbsp ground linseed

  • 1/4 cup wheat or oat bran

  • 1 mashed banana optional

  • 1/2 cup berries or seasonal fruit

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened soy milk or water

Preparation

 

  1. Soak the grains overnight in a jar or bowl of water.

  2. Drain the water through a sieve and rinse the grains with fresh water. (For even more nutritional value, you can let the grains sprout for two days in a special sprouting jar.) Otherwise, proceed to step 3.

  3. Place a large pot of water on the stove and add the grains. Cook over medium heat for 25 minutes.

  4. Test the grains. They should be cooked through but still have a pleasant crunch.

  5. Drain the water, add all the ingredients and mix everything together.

  6. Garnish with the blueberries or other fruit
